Toft 2025

A year in the life of Toft

Month: January

Toft 2025

Welcome to the Toft 2025 website

Back in 2020 we initiated Toft 2020. The idea was to capture what was happening in Toft during the year. It was to act as an historical document recognising how quickly photos and information becomes historically interesting.

You can see the original 2020 website here.

Unfortunately 2020 was the Covid year and so activities were constrained during the year but it's still interesting to see what was going on.

It was always the intention to repeat the exercise every 5 years and, lo and behold, that time has come around and so this new website has been created.

Sunrise in Toft

The night of 10/11 January was cold (minus 3 to 4 degrees) and clear so there was a frost on the Saturday morning and the sunrise was very colourful. Here a few pictures from a walk around the Green and across Church Meadow

Open Mic Night

We held our first Open Mic Night of the year. It featured Chris, Barney Mccullagh singing four of his own songs, The Hats with Patrick Hoskin, Paul Hercus and Martin Yeadon playing his steel guitar, two newbies, Mike Ward on keyboard and Wil Huisman on guitar, and Magna, with Alan Yate, Dave Hunt, Phil Miles and Katrina Holmes. Katrina organised the evening, John Bland was on sound and Craig was behind the bar. And a fun time was had by all.

Schoolroom Cafe

The Community Cafe started in 2021 and so wasn't mentioned in Toft 2020. It has been running regularly on a Wednesday morning since then. Attached is a poem written by Gill Pugh recognising it's first anniversary back in 2022.
