Toft 2025
Welcome to the Toft 2025 website
Back in 2020 we initiated Toft 2020. The idea was to capture what was happening in Toft during the year. It was to act as an historical document recognising how quickly photos and information becomes historically interesting.
You can see the original 2020 website here.
Unfortunately 2020 was the Covid year and so activities were constrained during the year but it's still interesting to see what was going on.
It was always the intention to repeat the exercise every 5 years and, lo and behold, that time has come around and so this new website has been created.

January Diary
January Diary
This is where we capture things that are not picked up elsewhere.
This month marked the conclusion on a non-statutory consultation on EWR. The situation at moment is that the route and the elevation is sorted. It’s proposed that it will run under the A428 and for the route close to Toft it will be in a cutting with Hardwick Road and Comberton Road going over it. There’s a petition being raised to have an independent review of the project as the business case, which hasn’t yet been seen, must be dubious. Unfortunately, Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor has spoken out supporting the project.
A working party spent a couple of days preparing the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Area for a hedge that was planted. Here’s the working Party; Katherine James, Mike McCarthy, Phil Miles, Tricia Ellis-Evans, Steve Pugh, Cynan Ellis-Evans, and Roc and Martin Yeadon. Also a Rowan Tree has been planted in the Rec.
Donald Trump has been inaugurated as President of USA and applied 25% tarrifs on Canada and Mexico and 10% on China. EU is probably next.

Keith Collett
A wake / celebration of Keith Collett's life was held in the Hall on Saturday afternoon - there were in excess of 100 people in attendance, a sign of how well known and liked Keith was.
Proceedings were overseen by Barbara Preece, who gave us a wonderful eulogy on Keith's life, followed by a video created by Mike McCarthy, then a farmer's poem, some thoughts from Keith's brother Koran, and two pieces of music.
The Club opened the bar, and Carol prepared a tasty buffet which was served by an amazing team of volunteers.
It was quite a send off.

It's wonderful to see so many of the village community and beyond coming together and enjoying a delicious breakfast while supporting two incredible and important charities.
