Sunrise in Toft
The night of 10/11 January was cold (minus 3 to 4 degrees) and clear so there was a frost on the Saturday morning and the sunrise was very colourful. Here a few pictures from a walk around the Green and across Church Meadow

Temperature & Rainfall
Toft average Rainfall and Temperatures over the 5year period Jan 2020 – Dec 2024
Rainfall
You will see from the charts that over the 5year period the wettest month was October and the driest was April.
The month with the greatest monthly variation in average rainfall was February and the month with least variation was June.
The wettest year was 2024 and the driest was 2022
Max Min Temp
The full year figure for 2020 is an estimated figure. As there was no recorded data for Jan and Feb 2020. I took the average Jan and Feb data for the years 2021-2024 and added to the 10 months recorded data for 2020 to give an estimated figure for the full year.
Year 2021 had the lowest average yearly temperature 2022 the highest (when the adjusted figure for Jan and Feb 2020 is taken into account).
In the two years following 2022 the yearly average has fallen so not sure if Toft got the memo on Global Warming.
Note: Both Rainfall and Temperatures were recorded at Brookside Toft

Temperature & Rainfall
Toft average Rainfall and Temperatures over the 6 year period Jan 2020 – June 2025 (Summarised Stats for Rainfall and Temperature attached).
Rainfall
You can see from the charts that the first half of 2025 has been the dryest since we started recording in 2020 but not by much, 2022 was just 10.3mm wetter, with last year (2024) having the wettest first half, more than double that of this year.
As we start the second half of 2025 the dry pattern continues all be it just a little wetter than the first half but still barley half the last 5 years average for July and August. Maybe September is going to change that.
Max Min Temp
Although the first half of this year (2025) may seem to have been one of the hottest the average temperatures for the first half of 2022, 2023 and 2024 were hotter.
The second half has started with both July and August being only just above the average for the last 4 years.
Note: Both Rainfall and Temperatures were recorded at Brookside Toft
Although we all enjoyed a warm and dry first half of the year (well maybe not all the gardeners) it was in fact on average the coldest January to June since 2021 so still not sure if Toft got the memo.

Temperature & Rainfall
Toft average Rainfall and Temperatures over the 6year period Jan 2020 – Dec 2025
Rainfall 2020 - 2025
You can see from the charts that the first half of 2025 has been the dryest since we started recording in 2020 but not by much, 2022 was just 10.3mm wetter. The second half of 2025 saw a lot more rain with November having Dayley average of 4.04mm making it the second wettest month in the last 6 years, only October 2023 has been wetter with an average of 4.14mm.
The month with the greatest variation in average rainfall over this period is November and the month with least variation is June.
The wettest year was 2024 and the driest was 2022. The wettest day was 27 September 2024 with 40mm.
Max Min Temp
Although the first half of this year (Jan- Jun 2025) may seem to have been one of the hottest, however the average temperatures for the first half of 2022, 2023 and 2024 were higher.
The second half of the year (Jul- Dec 2025) was hotter, but the average temperature for the year 2025 was still the coldest since 2021
Looking at averages and extremes for the 6year period 2020 – 2025.
Some interesting stats came out of the data
1. There were 12 days that on the same day each year of the 6 years had no rain, June had 5, April 2, March, May, July, August, and September had 1, the other months did not have a single day that was rain free for the 6 years period.
The rain free days were.
March 8
April 8
June 2,4,9,13,26
July 18
August 12
September 20
2. The month of June also had the lowest 6 yearly average rainfall.
You can also see from the averages over the 6year period the wettest month has been October.
So, if looking for dry holiday (in Toft) June looks like the month to go for.
3. Although the driest, June was not the hottest, July had the highest 6year average temperature at 19.34°C, August next at 18°C with June third at 16.57°C.
The hottest day was 19 July 2022 (39.7°C) and coldest was 15 December 2022 (-10.0°C).
