August Diary

It's been the UK's hottest summer and Toft has cetainly had it's fair share of warmth and dry weather. The Methodist Chapel finally closed it's doors a the end of the month. The Chalice has been stolen from the church in mysterious circumstances as it was in a locked safe.

Temperature & Rainfall

Toft average Rainfall and Temperatures over the 6 year period Jan 2020 – June 2025 (Summarised Stats for Rainfall and Temperature attached).

Rainfall

You can see from the charts that the first half of 2025 has been the dryest since we started recording in 2020 but not by much, 2022 was just 10.3mm wetter, with last year (2024) having the wettest first half, more than double that of this year.

As we start the second half of 2025 the dry pattern continues all be it just a little wetter than the first half but still barley half the last 5 years average for July and August. Maybe September is going to change that.

Max Min Temp

Although the first half of this year (2025) may seem to have been one of the hottest the average temperatures for the first half of 2022, 2023 and 2024 were hotter.

The second half has started with both July and August being only just above the average for the last 4 years.

Note: Both Rainfall and Temperatures were recorded at Brookside Toft

Although we all enjoyed a warm and dry first half of the year (well maybe not all the gardeners) it was in fact on average the coldest January to June since 2021 so still not sure if Toft got the memo.
